We are seeking a Metrology Engineer to join our growing team to support and develop of our next generation product. The position will focus on using hardware and tools to measure and characterize components and cells, ensuring they meet quality standards. This includes both hardware and software systems for accurate and reliable measurements. You will work with other engineers and scientists and will be responsible for optical imaging, image analysis, statistical analysis and machine learning to identify defects on cells and optimize process for cell building.
Requirements:
• Utilize optical imaging techniques for fast, non-destructive inspection of batteries and the components.
• Develop image analysis algorithms convert images into quantifiable data that describes component and battery quality.
• Ensure efficiency, uptime, and accuracy of metrology systems.
• Apply statistical analysis to characterize the performance of the metrology systems themselves.
• Communicate the metrology learnings and guide team for improvement in battery build process, performance and safety.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and/or Physics with 3+ years of industry experience OR Master’s degree & 1+ year of industry experience.
Highly desired:
• Experience specifying, installing, and configuring inspection and imaging systems.
• Experience, familiarity with Python and/or JMP for data analysis
• Experience, familiarity with machine learning
• Understanding of statistical process control and measurement systems analysis.

• Good written and spoken communication skills.

• Able to work under pressure per tight schedule.

ONSITE: This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role has a range of $117,500 to $152,700, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
