Responsibilities: 

 

As Commercial Counsel or Senior Commercial Counsel at QuantumScape, your primary responsibilities include: 

 

  • Commercial Contracts: Review, draft, and negotiate a broad diversity of contracts and legal documents, including joint development and collaboration agreements, technology licensing agreements, strategic relationship agreements, supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, M&A agreements, letters of credit, facilities agreements, and real estate lease agreements. 

 

  • Partner Engagement: Represent the company in interfacing and building relationships with our external stakeholders, including prospective and existing suppliers, customers, licensees and other partners, with occasional travel. 

 

  • Intellectual Property: Assist in managing intellectual property matters, including IP rights negotiations, supporting the Director of Intellectual Property in the management of our IP portfolio, developing and implementing information and physical security measures and HR policies to protect the organization's assets. 

 

  • Values and Culture: Embody company values and adopt best practices regarding use of company systems and processes, management and leadership, collaboration, and mentoring. Contribute to a positive culture based on continuous learning, professional growth, and development. 

 

In addition to these primary responsibilities, you will also be expected to exercise versatility and provide secondary support to our colleagues in a variety of areas, including regulatory compliance, litigation, corporate governance, risk management, policy development and training, HR matters, etc. 

 

 

Qualifications & Skills: 


We are looking for first-rate talent. 

  • At minimum, you will have a J.D. degree from a national law school, state bar membership in good standing, and at least 6 years of combined public company experience at a premier law firm and/or high-growth technology company. 

  • A technical background would be an asset. You are not expected to be a battery expert, but you will either have a STEM background and/or a demonstrated capability and willingness to ascend our technology learning curve.

  • Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.

This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our offices in San Jose, California. 

 

Compensation & Benefits:  
Expected salary range for this role is $193,500- $309,600, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other benefits.
