QuantumScape developed the industry’s first anode-less cell design, which delivers high energy density while lowering material costs and simplifying manufacturing. Our innovative battery cell technology can store energy more efficiently and reliably than today’s lithium-ion batteries.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to support our R&D team. As a team member, you will help identify performance-limiting defect modes in incoming cell components and define specifications to further improve our product performance and reliability. This position is an exciting multi-functional role that sits at the intersection of materials, manufacturing, and data science!
Title: Defect Analysis Engineering Co-op
Location: Onsite- San Jose, CA
Responsibilities

Investigate failure-causing defect modes using physical characterization including VK, microCT, and FIB.

Characterize and monitor defect modes across process conditions as new conditions are introduced

Collaborate with battery scientists and engineers to carry out cutting-edge experiments.

Communicate results with the broader team in clear, concise reports
Experience & Education:
-
Working towards a BS in materials science, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field

Experience conducting experiments in a laboratory setting

You have hands-on experience in a wet chemistry laboratory environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation: This is an hourly position with an hourly rate of $26-$30 per hour based on a candidates background and experience
