About the team: The Equipment Engineering team is responsible for working cross functionally to maintain equipment, design equipment improvements (CIP’s), create standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and improve equipment up time.
This internship will be based onsite at our San Jose, CA offices
What we need:
Quantumscape is seeking a motivated mechanical/electrical Engineer Intern for our Equipment team. In this summertime position you will be a part of the Quantumscape Intern cadre developing and producing new technology for high energy density batteries.The equipment engineering intern will aid the equipment team by designing and testing new CIP’s and fixtures to improve equipment performance. You will be exposed to best-in-class data analysis capabilities for troubleshooting and equipment improvement. You will work with the engineering and technician team in a class 1000 cleanroom.
Responsibilities:
- Work with equipment engineering team to understand process steps and recommend improvements to support equipment issues
- Analyze data to guide engineering decisions and implement on equipment
- Work cross functionally with Quality, Safety, Development, and Process Engineers to trial new equipment improvements
- Quickly iterate through different designs to arrive at a scalable, repeatable and reliable design
- Validate new tools/jigs
- Ensure tool documentation for usage and PM schedule available to maintain high performance of tool/jig
Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and the ability to utilize pivot tables and generate useful reports
- Preference will be given to candidates who are able to design and prototype new jigs and mechanical aids.
- Must have highly developed written and verbal cross-functional communication skills
