About the team: The IT department is a collaborative group of engineers and support specialists dedicated to maintaining and advancing QuantumScape’s technology infrastructure. The team works closely with all departments to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations, supporting both R&D and manufacturing environments. What we need: The IT team is seeking an entry to mid-level IT Engineer who is technically savvy and passionate about supporting and improving business processes. You will provide helpdesk support and interface with multiple departments and external partners. We’re looking for someone eager to learn, ready to hit the ground running, and help define best practices for IT operations at QuantumScape. What You’ll do:

 

  • Provide Level 1 (L1) support for our helpdesk, assisting end-users with technical issues and requests.
  • Deliver lab support in the dry rooms, ensuring IT systems and devices function reliably in specialized environments.
  • Maintain and manage IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Implement and optimize IT processes and procedures to enhance system reliability and user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support technology needs for R&D and manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and company policies.
  • Analyze system performance and generate reports to drive management decisions.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for employees, including device setup and access management.

 

Skills You’ll Need:

 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware, software, and network issues
  • Experience providing helpdesk (L1) support in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and macOS operating systems
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, user account management, and access controls
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Experience supporting and maintaining lab equipment and specialized IT devices
  • Ability to document technical procedures and solutions clearly
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, or similar)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in IT support or operations
  • B.A./B.S. preferred, preferably in information technology, computer science, or related field

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and tools
  • Experience supporting scientific or lab equipment in a research environment

 

Physical requirements:

  • Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, lab area, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Reaching and twisting motions with hands
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs.

 

Onsite: This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position.  As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration. 

 

Compensation & Benefits: Expected salary range for this role is from $ 79,800 to $115,800, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other benefits.
