QuantumScape is seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and collaborative teammate to join our Information Technology team. We design, maintain, and secure information systems in hybrid cloud/office/home environments. We believe that IT is a force-multiplier for our workforce, particularly in the age of rapid improvements in technology including AI. Our strong in-house software and IT teams differentiate us from other battery and manufacturing companies. Areas of focus include cybersecurity, networking, desktop support in both office and labs. We strive to meet internal satisfaction metrics. We support primarily Windows but also Mac and Linux systems. The ideal candidate will have a customer oriented focus, have good communication skills, be comfortable managing by the numbers (SLAs, efficiency metrics, budget), work as a trusted thought partner to functional leaders to support current and future needs, be excited to maintain infrastructure securely, promote security initiatives, and think quickly as the company grows at a rapid pace.
The company IP is critical to our value; you will be responsible for maintaining the infrastructure and business practices that secure it from threats. You will also help us maintain our hybrid on-prem/cloud architecture for enhanced uptime, performance, cost effectiveness, and security. You will drive execution towards our SLAs. You will lead projects to roll out new capabilities. You will continually learn to enhance your skills, and you will also mentor others on the team to enhance their skills. You will identify and select vendors for a range of solutions to issues that you identify. You will negotiate for better rates and service from our vendors and benchmark our cost effectiveness for IT investments.
You seek learning opportunities and continually educate yourself to stay up-to-speed on the latest developments in the fast-moving industry of information systems. You have experience in operating roles in IT.
As a public company with unique IP in an emerging area of geopolitical strategic importance and tremendous market opportunity, we must take the security threats very seriously while supporting commercialization and rapid subsequent scale-up of manufacturing and business operations. Simultaneously, security must be executed alongside a focus on cost, operational efficiency, and performance in a nimble, innovative, and fast-paced environment.
Experience:
• BS in a computing or information field is preferred
• 5+ years' experience in information systems with significant exposure to hybrid cloud and self-hosted computing infrastructure
Responsibilities:
• Develop business relationships with IT vendors; lead the selection of IT solutions to support functional and corporate roadmap, from identification of potential solutions through selection, implementation, and support/continuous improvement
• Support corporate security engineering, security operations, compliance, and incident response.
• Deliver IT SLAs to support business needs
• Manage costs to a budget to increase delivered value from software; track productivity metrics and benchmark to peers
• Work closely with software development and data science teams to enable them to deploy software on secure infrastructure
Preferred:
• Experience in IT operations (helpdesk/enterprise software, network, server/storage, project management), business systems, and cybersecurity. Experience in manufacturing environments; automotive and battery is a plus.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining IT solutions to support manufacturing scale-up, including server/storage strategy, MES integration, and security
• Track record of on-time project execution, driving IT spend effectiveness/efficiency, and security performance
• Experience in supporting Windows, Mac, and Linux
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role is $79,800 to 115,800, and a salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
