Title: Principal Member of Technical Staff (PMTS)

Responsibilities:

· Drive ramp readiness with process, equipment engineering, and operations and work in person with various teams to support scale up.

· Handle component readiness to ensure part availability.

· Build and own supplier relationships crucial to our operation: Communicate forecasts, lead regular cross-functional discussions, manage material orders, and troubleshoot quality issues.

· Communicate requirements and schedules to facilitate technical readiness with the teams in onsite technical meetings.

· Propose and invent new processing approaches and continuously improve existing ones.

· Develop and maintain drawings, operating procedures, and work instructions and provide training to junior engineers, technicians, and operators.

· Establish CIP (continuous improvement process), programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.

· Design and execute experiments to evaluate new tools/processes and bring them to our production line.

· Manage critical material inventory across multiple storage locations and leverage data to create and maintain inventory policy.

· Work with equipment engineering/maintenance team/ vendors to ensure tool support is being provided during line down situations.

· Work with a team to root cause and address problem statements.

· Establish documentation and procedures for product sampling, testing, and data tracking systems.

 

Minimum Requirement:

 

Education & Experience

· M.S. or higher degree in ceramic engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in

manufacturing of advanced materials OR PhD with demonstrated manufacturing experience.

· Project and cross functional team management/supervision experience.

· Good understanding of ceramic science and processing is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Able to manage projects with minimal supervision, and support department and company goals.

· Excellent hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical and automated systems.

· Utilize excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate closely with internal and external collaborators.

· Comfort with fast paced, technically challenging projects and ability to adapt quickly to changes.

· Self-motivated with a track record of learning new skills and techniques and applying those to achieve desired results.

 

Compensation:

The intended salary range for this position will be $148,000 - $205,000 and will be based on candidate's experience level. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employer sponsored health insurance, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
