QuantumScape is an energy storage technology company, located in San Jose, California, and we are working on a fundamental disruption in the field of energy storage. We seek to change the paradigm in energy storage by developing a completely new class of electrical energy storage device. The Quality Engineering team plays a critical role in this mission and is responsible for establishing supplier quality processes, clean room compliance standards, perform IQC (incoming Quality Control), establish and drive process control measures by ensuring that SPC (Statistical Process Control), Process control plan, SOPs, Traceability system, and Process Capability Analysis are implemented. 

 

What we need: 

QuantumScape is seeking a motivated Quality Engineer Intern for our Quality Engineering team. You will be playing a vital role in ensuring that incoming raw material meets critical to quality specifications, non-compliant parts are identified and appropriately dispositioned by collaborating with internal stakeholders, provide feedback to vendors and track their performance as well as ensure excursions and/or variations are being addressed through 8D process.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Support quality engineering team on developing SOPs related to IQC, Clean Room Standards, GR&R, etc. 

  • Support team on performing GR&R studies, clean room compliance audits, manual review, data collection, and data analysis, etc. 

  • Support in perform Incoming Inspection on raw materials. 

  • Support quality engineering team in performing process audits and identifying gaps. 

  • Provide continuous improvement ideas and solutions for process and clean room compliance. 

  • Participate in excursion review discussions to learn about 8D methodology process. 

  • Support in monitoring SPC chart for baseline processes. 

  • Monitor supplier performance and report to internal stakeholders. 

 

 

Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Actively enrolled working towards Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field. 

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy   

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite specifically Microsoft Excel and the ability to use utilize pivot table to generate useful reports 

  • Must have highly developed written and verbal cross-functional communication skills  

  • Hands-on skills in Quality Engineering tools, such as Measurement system analysis, Gage R&R, SPC, Process control plan, SOP, traceability system, process capability analysis. 

  • Take a disciplined approach which relies on the application of statistical methods for experiment planning, data analysis, and process control. 

 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • JMP software experience preferred 

  • Six Sigma certified 

  • Industry experience in lithium-ion batteries preferred. 

 

This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices. 

 

Compensation: As an Intern, you will be eligible to receive an hourly pay rate which is dependent on the year of schooling which has just been completed. Rates are configured based upon this with the range being $25-$40 per hour (undergrad, grad, phd)
