Position: Battery Engineer - Failure Analysis We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Battery Engineer to lead failure analysis efforts for our cutting-edge next-generation solid-state battery technology. In this pivotal role, you will unravel the intricacies of our innovative battery design, develop robust failure analysis methodologies, and play a critical role in the advancement of the next evolution of battery technology. As part of our team, you will contribute to identifying and addressing the most critical failure modes, thereby driving the continuous improvement of our battery systems.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct comprehensive Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for battery systems. 

  • Identify potential failure modes, their root causes, and associated effects in the lab and collaboration with various team members face to face

  • Evaluate the severity, likelihood of occurrence, and detection capability of each failure mode. 

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to implement corrective actions. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: BS + 5 yrs experience, MS in Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Physics, or related field with 3+ year of experience or Phd

 

Experience: 

  • Proficiency in FMEA methodologies and tools. 

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis for risk assessment. 

  • Familiarity with battery materials, interfaces, and electrochemistry. 

Skills: 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities. 

  • Effective communication (verbal and written) in English. 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively. 

 

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience in battery research, development, or failure analysis. 

 

 Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role is $123,000-$173,000, but a salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
