As a member of the metrology team, you will help us develop and deploy critical metrology systems that enhance our learning rates and improve the quality and performance of our batteries. What you will do:

· Lead collaborative efforts to convert low-throughput, manually operated inspection solutions (optical, x-ray, ultrasound, and other advanced methods) into integrated and automated measurements solutions in high-throughput settings.

· Lead high-throughput measurement system development, procurement, and deployment/integration.

· Manage the complete lifecycle of metrology projects, including gathering requirements, identifying and validating solutions, performing or assisting with installations, planning improvements and maintenance.

· Collaborate with internal and external integrators to define, develop, and deploy in-line metrology systems.

· Collaborate across metrology, process, software and automation teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet throughput and performance requirements.

· Lead efforts in sample and measurement hardware fixture design.

 

Minimum requirements:

· PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science, EE, physics, or a related field; or M.S. with 3+ years of experience; or B.S. and 5+ years related experience.

· Hands-on experience with design and integration of automated process and/or metrology tools.

· Previous experience with developing, validating, and deploying robust imaging and characterization hardware (optical, acoustic, ultrasound, x-ray imaging, and/or thermal sensors)

· Strong understanding and practical knowledge of measurement systems analysis, statistical process control, and design of experiments.

· Proficient in CAD design and rapid prototyping methods.

 

Highly desired:

· Experience with scale-up of manufacturing metrology solutions.

· Strong organizational skills pertaining to managing design specifications and documentation

· Previous experience modifying, retrofitting process or metrology tools

· Experience with precision mechanisms and tool design. Experience with kinematic mount design is a plus

· Experience with GD&T tolerancing symbols and guidelines.

Compensation & Benefits: 

Salary range for this role has a range of $123,900 to 165,600 , but a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
