In this role you will develop and continuously improve solid-state cell manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal performance while addressing any technical challenges. You will be responsible for identifying and communicating process problem statements, finding creative solutions, and implementing corrective actions. You will work alongside your team to qualify high-throughput cell assembly tooling, define key performance indicators, and tune processes through targeted experimentation to reach cell yield and reliability targets.

Key Responsibilities:

· Plan and participate in cell build process development experiments

· Identify & troubleshoot complex chemical and mechanical problem statements of cell component integration using a variety of inspection techniques.

· Help to qualify new cell manufacturing equipment and to optimize their process parameters.

· Perform statistical data analyses to analyze the results of experimentation, and guide decision making.

· Ability to work diligently and independently – and collaboratively.

· Demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to quality manufacturing best practices.

· Collaborate across cross-functional teams including automation engineers, chemical engineers, materials scientists, and more.

· Effectively communicate findings to stakeholders to drive actions.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Working towards Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science & engineering, or a related field with hands-on laboratory experience. Experience working towards and advanced degree in these fields strongly preferred.

· High-level technical knowledge of common cell materials and cell failure modes.

· Experience with troubleshooting complex problem statements, design of experiments to test problem statement hypotheses, and then implementing corrective actions.

· Excellent technical communication and collaboration skills even to peers with different backgrounds.

· A self-motivated and hands-on problem solver.

Preferred Skills:

· Basic experience / familiarity with cell manufacturing and cell materials.

· Familiarity with physical & chemical characterization techniques (Raman, SEM/FIB, XRD, optical & laser microscopy, etc).

· Experience with CAD is a plus.

· Familiarity with quality engineering best practices (Six Sigma, 5S, etc).
