About the team: The battery systems development team is a tight-knit group of engineers working to improve module level reliability and design. We pride ourselves on being small and dynamic, able to make data-driven decisions on tight timelines and iterate rapidly to arrive at needed improvements. We emphasize collaboration with teams across the company to engineer a product ready for real world applications.
What we need: We are seeking an early to mid-career engineer excited about helping actualize real-world Li metal battery packs. You will use knowledge of battery test methods and metrics to validate and improve module designs. What you’ll do:
- Design experiments to test reliability of novel modules and pack architecture
- Analyze electrical test data to inform module design improvements
- Interface with cell build and reliability teams to stay up to date with learnings from across the company
- Collaborate with business development team to develop cycling test protocols for industry applications
- Aid in mechanical design and prototyping of modules
Skills you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering discipline with 2+ years of relevant work experience OR Master’s degree +1-year relevant work experience
- Hands-on experience working with Li-ion or solid-state batteries and knowledge of electrical test metrics
- Experience with mechanical design principles and software (e.g. Inventor, SolidWorks, CATIA)
- Understanding of experimental design, statistical methods, and associated software (e.g. JMP, Python)
- Excellent communication skills and background working with cross-functional teams
Nice to have:
- Experience with small scale process design and rapid prototyping
- Foundation in battery module design and integration
Physical requirements: Job will require working in dry lab environments, the use of fine motor skills to handle delicate samples, and the ability to lift up to 25lbs.
Onsite: This role requires onsite presence five days per week to facilitate real-time collaboration with engineering teams and support hands-on laboratory activities.
Compensation & Benefits: The salary range for this position begins at around $101,900 to $141,800, with final compensation resolved based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. QuantumScape also provides an annual bonus and a comprehensive RSU/Equity package as part of its overall compensation strategy.
