Title: Senior Failure Analysis Engineer

What we need: Be the problem-solver who accelerates production readiness. You’ll lead investigations into yield-impacting failure modes, partner closely with manufacturing teams, and drive corrective actions that get processes running at scale—fast.
- Identify systemic yield issues and root causes across production lines.
- Enable rapid learning cycles and process stabilization to prevent repeat failures.
- Influence every build and customer release by translating insights into actionable improvements.
What You’ll Do:
- Investigate yield-impacting defects and failure modes across components and assemblies.
- Collaborate with production and process engineering teams to implement fixes quickly and effectively.
- Apply structured problem-solving and statistical analysis to isolate root causes and quantify risk.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track yield trends and highlight critical issues in real time.
- Drive cross-functional reviews to align on corrective actions and verify improvements.
- Communicate findings clearly to leadership and manufacturing teams for rapid decision-making.
- Support customer investigations and provide timely feedback on field reliability concerns.
Skills You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field with relevant experience in yield analysis or failure investigation.
- Strong understanding of failure analysis principles and process control in high-volume manufacturing.
- Proficiency in statistical tools and data visualization (Python, R, JMP, Tableau).
- Experience with reliability and yield modeling techniques.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in fast-paced environments.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with high-volume production ramp or yield improvement programs.
- Familiarity with FA/reliability dashboards and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Onsite: This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role has a range of $134,800 to $182,000, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
